On February 21st there was a moderate 6.0 earthquake in Wells, Nevada (Wells sits about 180 miles west of Salt Lake City on I-80).
The recent Church News and other news sources tell some people’s experiences.
- 75% of the Wells Ward members suffered some sort of damage to their homes.
- At least 80 chimneys in town were damaged.
- The priesthood quorums gathered information and reported to their leaders on the status of the families in the ward.
- There was no fuel or water available for at least the first 12 hours.
- Blankets became luxuries during the frigid nights.
Many of us live in areas with earthquake faults, both known and unknown. We can’t control the shaking but we can control our degree of preparedness and make sure we’re insured for it too.
